Engineered Prince Harry Appearance
I was fortunate to be able to engineer and spearhead an appearance from Prince Harry on behalf of Solidoodle on May 14th during his American Tour in NYC.
The appearance was in conjunction with the Prime Minister of England David Cameron and the GREAT campaign
Prince Harry and Prime Minister David Cameron showcased British innovation and technology in New York today – as they arrived in Manhattan on a London bus.
A new version of the capital’s red Routemaster carried the two men to Manhattan’s trendy Meat Packing district for an event highlighting creative UK firms blazing a trail in the US.
He joined around 100 guests who included British actress Emilia Clarke, who stars in the popular US fantasy series Game of Thrones, and senior executives from companies like Virgin, British Airways at the reception staged at Milk Studios, a fashion photographic studio that has been used by Madonna.
The function is showcasing innovative British companies already making inroads in America or hoping to, and their US equivalents working in the UK or planning to invest here.
His Royal Highness and the Prime Minister were presented with dolls of themselves created by UK firm Makies. They were also shown 3D printing technology and innovative crafts kit.
Addressing the audience, Mr Cameron warned that Britain and the US were both in a “global race”. He said the countries had “brains, brilliance and creativity” and needed to “play to our strengths”.
The aim of the GREAT campaign is to maximizethe economic potential of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and promote the UK’s assets around the world between 2012- 2015. Through the UK government’s GREAT campaign, the British Council is raising awareness and promoting the UK’s strengths in English, education and culture. We are working closely with all the relevant UK government departments and UK bodies: Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Visit Britain for the maximum impact at the least cost.
The GREAT campaign was announced by Prime Minister David Cameron in New York on 21 September 2011 and officially launched in February 2012. The campaign aims to support the marketing and public diplomacy efforts of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Visit Britain, the Foreign Office and the British Council overseas.
